COTEAU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John L. “Bullay” Segura at 10:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Harrington will be the celebrant. Mr. Segura will be laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum following the Mass.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Mr. Segura was born July 20, 1938 in New Iberia to the late Etienne Segura, Sr. and the late Julie Toucheque Segura, and passed away peacefully Thursday, January 4 at The Carpenter House, with his family at his side.
Mr. John, known by family and friends as “Bullay”, was a retired truck driver after working in the oilfield for over 40 years. During that time he worked with various companies including Howard Trucking, Rex Truckline and Jernigan Trucking. “Bullay” then went on to work with Iberia Parish Government until full retirement. His favorite pastime was working his farm and taking care of all his animals. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace.
Survivors include his six children, Lisa Segura Carline, Tina Segura Estilette, Belinda Segura Delcambre and husband Tommy, Tammy Segura Calahan and husband Kevin, Mark Allen Segura and wife Cindy and Blaine Paul Segura and wife Madeline; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his former wife and mother of his children, Nedia LaPointe; his brothers, Jimmy Segura and Allen “Poochie” Segura; and his sisters, Susie Romero and Cevilia “Toot” Alleman.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Whitney Segura, Etienne “Blanc” Segura, Jr. and Nolan Segura.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Carline, Cody Delcambre, Brett Delcambre, Drew Calahan, Trey Chaison, Bryson Segura, Gentry Estilette, Jared Estilette and Skylar Pelous. Honorary Pallbearers are Mark and Blaine Segura.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice and The Carpenter House Staff, and a special thank you to his caregiver Dacie Theriot Babineaux for her care and compassion shown to our father.
