With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to James Adam Migues, 87, a cherished soul who departed from this world on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He leaves a legacy of warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
James was born on July 13, 1936 in Iberia Parish to the late Eddie and Virginia Comeaux Migues, and was one of thirteen children to that union.
James was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the quiet moments spent by the tranquil waters of the Delcambre Canal, his fishing rod in hand. His passion for fishing was matched only by his talent for coaxing the most flavorful tomatoes and crisp cucumbers from his bountiful garden, a testament to his green thumb and dedication to nurturing life from the earth.
In nature, James found solace and contentment, whether tending to his garden or meticulously caring for his yard. His connection to the land was profound, and his appreciation for its beauty was evident in every corner of his meticulously maintained surroundings.
Yet, James's talents extended far beyond the garden and the water's edge. With an innate gift for mechanics, he possessed the remarkable ability to breathe life back into any motor.
James would want all of his family and friends to know that he was more than prepared to meet his Lord and Savior.
James is survived by his children, Gloria Armentor; Julie Granger; Lisa Gauthier and husband Eric; and Ernest Breaux and wife Cheryl; one brother, Paul Migues, and wife Hazel; one sister, Hazel Prince, and husband Norbert; nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby LeBlanc Migues; five brothers, Curley, Harry, Henry “Bud”, Clifton and Julius Migues and five sisters, Janelle and June Migues, Margaret LeBlanc, Mildred Lopez and Rita Eskine.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home, with Pastor Jacob Aranza officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Migues Cemetery in Delcambre.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of services.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rene Armentor, Robert Cahanin, Gus Cahanin, Jr. Samuel Armentor, Josiah Armentor and Chad Breaux. Baylen Jones will serve as honorary pallbearer.
