NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Eva Vidrine Castille, age 85, at 10:00 am on Friday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at the church mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 pm until 10:00 pm with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Friday at 8:00 am until the service time.
A native of St. Landy Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Castille passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Maison Teche Nursing Home Jeanerette.
Eva Castille was a devoted and faithful parishioner of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church and served on the church’s bereavement committee for several years. She was a kind and caring woman who loved her family deeply. Eva enjoyed cooking for family and friends and sharing a good meal with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed being outside, especially when it came to keeping up her yard. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Eva will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Carol C. Armentor and husband David, Betty C. Braus, James Oscar Castille and wife Sue, Sandra C. West and husband Richard, Brenda C. Comeaux and husband Michael, and Amanda C. Deckard and husband Stuart; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Oscar Castille; parents, Herman and Lydia V. Vidrine; and sons-in-law, Michael Braus, Doyle Umphries, Bryant Bourque, and Allen Leleux.
Pallbearers will be Chad Castille, Jason Umphries, Carl Comeaux, Scott Braus, Jesse Deckard, and Cameron Barras.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Castille and Ryan Armentor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, a local cancer organization, or special intentions may be offered for masses.
