NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Elmer “Doc” Genaro Titus at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. Deacon Chris Doumit will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service time.
A native of Caracas, Venezuela and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Titus passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at his residence. He was 75.
Born on July 4, 1947 in Caracas, Venezuela to Elmer and Ana Allen Titus, Elmer was one of six children. “Doc” as he was better known, was a kind and caring man who has a fun sense of humor and enjoyed the simple things in life. He lived most of his later life in Toledo Bend and greatly enjoyed going down to the dam to search for rare rocks and gems and petrified woods. He would also spend time fishing, doing sketches, and tinkering. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces and was honorably discharged. He was stationed overseas and fought in the Vietnam war. A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Elmer will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Robert G. Titus (Miranda) and Lisa T. Migues (Greg); brothers, Hal Titus (Kerie), Johnny Titus (Linda), and Bobby Titus ( Morona); sisters, Angelica Soprano (Danny) and Mary Ana Titus (Richard); grandchildren, Taylor Touchet, Brittney Moneaux, Jardi Migues, Rory Titus, Blake Hardy, Gabby Hardy, and Jerrod Lemmons; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Ana Allen Titus.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Titus, Hal Titus, Robert Titus, Marcus Touchet, Greg Migues, and Kyle Simoneaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Soprano, Bobby Titus, Jamie Arnold, and Fred Korb.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Lisa Theatts, who took care of Elmer and to Geri Domingue and Sadie Mason.
