Lydia – A Memorial mass will be celebrated for Dorothy Hoffpauir Lopez, 83, at 10:00 am Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Holy Family Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia on Thursday from 8:00 am until Mass time, with the Rosary will be led by the Men’s Rosary Group at 9:00 am.
A native of Delcambre, Louisiana and resident of Lydia, Mrs. Lopez died at 5:30 a.m. on November 14, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Lopez, more commonly known to her friends as “Ms. Dot” or “Aunt Dot”, retired from the Iberia Parish School Board after serving many students at Peebles Elementary School as a cafeteria worker.
Mrs. Lopez is survived by her son Derral Lopez and companion Diana Sandifer; and daughter, Cheryl Barras and husband Taylor all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Shannon Lopez of New Iberia, Susan (Brodie) Mire of Youngsville and Alex (Emily) Barras of Baton Rouge; and great grandchildren, Parker Lopez and Christopher Mire.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Ray P. Lopez; her parents, Julian and Cora Lee Delahoussaye Hoffpauir; niece Joy Rita Heywood; brothers, Joseph, Percy, Junius and Rivers Hoffpauir; her sisters, Mrs. Euranie Boullion, Mrs. Helen Girouard, Mrs. Olita Bourque, Mrs. Elita Savoie, Ms. Olite Hoffpauir, Mrs. Mary Segura, and Mrs. Ella Boudreaux Trahan.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Barras, Alex Barras, Brodie Mire, Parker Lopez, J. B. Heywood, Gilbert Frederick and Alden Verrett.
