NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Donald H. Thomas, age 91, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at New Iberia Church of Christ | 667 Charles St., New Iberia, LA 70560 | where he served his Lord. Interment will be held at 1:00 pm onThursday, May 16, 2019 at Oakland Memorial Park in Athens, TX.
Donald was a resident of New Iberia, LA since 1965 and passed away on May 11, 2019 in his home after a long illness. He was born to Henry C. and Katy Bonner Thomas in Corsicana, TX on September 15, 1927. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1939 to 1940. He attended Kilgore Jr. College on a GI bill and graduated with a diesel engineering degree. In 1950, Donald began his career with Esso (now Exxon Mobil) and worked in the oil field until his retirement in 1986. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Donald will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Greer Thomas of New Iberia; sons, Micheal Thomas of Victoria, TX and Kenneth Thomas of Houston, TX; daughters, Sarah Holcomb and husband Hardie of New Iberia, Carroll Thomas of New Iberia, Sandy Williams and husband Charlie of Katy, TX, and Donna Dingler and husband Steve of Jacksonville, AR; brothers, Larry Thomas and wife Diane of Alvin, TX and Garry Thomas and wife Betty of Palestine, TX; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay O’Brien; and parents, Henry C. and Katy Bonner Thomas.
