NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Allen “Pinky” Hebert, 91, at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. William Blanda officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors by the Iberia Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 19 with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday, July 20 from 8:00 am until the service time.
A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Belle Place, Mr. Hebert died at 4:15 am on July 18th at Azalea Estates Living Facility in New Iberia, LA.
Mr. Hebert was a 1943 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School, a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and an avid golfer. Mr. Hebert served his country as a member of the United States Navy, fought in WWII in the submarine corps, and was aboard the USS Pilotfish in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the WWII peace treaty. He was employed by Heldenbrand Inc, Chromoloy Inc., and owner of Hebert Tubular Services.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Sharon Hebert LeBlanc and her husband Richard “Dickie” LeBlanc of New Iberia; his sons, Mr. Ryan Hebert of New Iberia; Mr. Lane Hebert of Houston; Mr. Drew Hebert and his wife Mrs. Janet Hebert of New Iberia; grandchildren, Mrs. Laurie LeBlanc Viator and her husband Troy of New Iberia; Miss Christie LeBlanc of New Iberia, Mr. Trey Hebert of New Iberia; great-grandchildren, Miss Morgan Derouen, Miss Kaitlyn Viator and Mr. Landon Viator of New Iberia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Wilda Bourg Hebert; parents, Adolph and Bertha Grivat Hebert; five sisters, Helen Hebert Oubre, Levie Hebert Decuir, Edna Hebert Dionne, Ruth Hebert and Marcelite Hebert Dugas; and a brother, Adam Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Ryan, Lane, Drew (Sons) and Trey Hebert (Grandson), Richard LeBlanc (son-in-law) and Troy Viator (grandson-in-law).
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of Azalea Estates Assistive Living for making him feel so welcomed. A special thanks to his devoted caregivers, especially Edna and Marjorie and to Dr. Robert Lahasky and Lourdes Oncology-New Iberia, and their office staffs.
