Warren Silver passed away on November 29, 2016 at 85, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 24, 1931, in Manhattan to Louis and Genevieve Silver. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Warren married the love of his life Eileen McGee on February 23, 1957. They met in the Bronx where they both grew up. He worked for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 28 in NYC and recently received his 60-year pin. Warren resided in New City for 54 years. Warren enjoyed fishing, golf, and fixing anything. He was known for his often repeated quips and his willingness to assist anyone in his extended family or circle of friends and neighbors with a construction project. He loved gadgets.
Warren is predeceased by his wife Eileen M. Silver; son Robert Silver, and his brother Bruce Silver and sister Norma Geiger. He was the loving father of Joyce Lavecchia and her husband James, Louis Silver, Karen Rola and her husband Robert. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Marianne Silver, and adoring grandchildren: Janine Garcia and her husband Kristian, Kristen Neary and her husband Brian, Michael Lavecchia and Megan Lavecchia and her fiancé Mike Viohl; William and Caroline Silver; Brian, Matthew and Daniel Rola; and Amanda and Kyle Silver; and two great grandchildren, Connor Neary and Mackenzie Garcia.
The family will receive friends on Dec. 2, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, Dec, 3, 2016, at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Warren’s name may be made to Hospice.
