Tom was a resident of New City after growing up in New York City. He was born on January 1, 1945 to Mary and Denis Casey who had emigrated from Ireland. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann, in 1969. He then graduated from Manhattan College. Tom was an employee of New York Bus Service for many years and then the MTA. He enjoyed coaching his sons in basketball, having weekly breakfast with his friends,
joking with his grandkids, watching their games, and celebrating holidays with those he loved. He was an
avid Yankee fan, but his greatest joys came from his family, especially spending time with the person
most important to him, his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann.
He is survived by his children Mary, Kevin, and Brian, his son-in-law Barry, and his grandchildren Casey, Shannon, Morgan, Kaitlyn, Jake, and Kiera. “Pops” adored each of his grandchildren and has had a huge impact on their lives. He is also survived by his brother Denis and sisters Margaret and Barbara, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him; he was truly an incredible man.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-7 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of
Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10am, at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment
at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s
Hospital.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MJHigginsNewCity.com for the Casey family.
