It is with great sadness that the family of Scott Michael Dumas announce his unexpected passing on November 9 th, 2024. Scott was born to Michael and Valorie Dumas on June 2 nd, 1970, in Rockland County, New York. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Scott will be forever remembered by his children, Michael and Sofia, their mother Mariangela, his sister Michelle, and his nieces and nephews, Caitlin, Molly, Briana, Laura, and Marco—as well as many extended family members, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Scott lived his life with an enthusiasm and warmth that touched everyone around him; he was full of passion, kindness, and love. He cared deeply for his family and friends, cherishing every moment and memory they shared. His vibrant personality and generous spirit made him the life of the party, always ready to offer a helping hand and a listening ear. He had a rare ability to make everyone feel like family, and quickly turned strangers into friends. He was able to find happiness in his daily activities, and his pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Scott found joy in the simplest of pleasures. He was always immersed in nature, whether that meant riding motorcycles around Bear Mountain, walking the waterfronts, kayaking on White Pond, snowboarding out in the mountains, playing Ice Hockey, catching sharks off the Long Island Sound, or attempting to play golf with a broken elbow. His love for the outdoors and his passion for adventure truly reflects the vibrant life he lived.
Above all, it was hockey that brought him the most joy. A lifelong New York Rangers fan, Scott spent many of his nights on the ice, and he was beyond proud to be part of Hockey Night in Katonah, Danny O’s, the Phantoms, and the Budmen. Though he was never a Ranger, he was truly devoted to his hockey buddies, most of whom became like family to him, and supported him through thick and thin.
Scott's passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him. His vibrant spirit, infectious smile and laughter, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones will never be forgotten. Whether on the ice, out in nature, or surrounded by family and friends, Scott lived life to the fullest. We take comfort in knowing his love and presence will remain in our hearts, guiding us through the days ahead. Rest in peace—we will always love you.
A visitation for Scott will be held Monday, November 18, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, followed by a funeral service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
