Rose M. Lisi

Rose Maria Gracia Lisi, (nee Guadagno/Viola) of Pearl River, NY, passed away April 12, 2020. Rose, 96, was born and raised in Fort Lee, NJ, graduated from Madonna HS, and received her advanced degree in Theology andSpiritual Direction from Molloy College, Rockville Center, NY. Rose was married to the late Albert J. Lisi; they lived in NJ, WA, MA, and Roosevelt and Baldwin, NY. As a widow, Rose lived in Oceanside, NY, then moved to Rockland County, NY, in 1996. Rose waspredeceased by her son James and is survived by her children Peter (Kathie), Stephen (Kathy), Maryann West (Mark), Tom (Vicky), Judy Curcio (James), and Michael (Anna). She was adored by her eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Rose isalso survived by cherished extended family members and dear friends.

Rose was an engaging religious leader throughout her adult life. She was very active at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary church in Roosevelt, NY; founded Wellsprings Retreat Center in Oceanside, NY; was a valued SpiritualDirector across the NY-NJ metropolitan area; was active at Marydell Faith and Life Center, Nyack, NY; and performed spiritual duties as a Dominican Associate. Rose was a Eucharistic Ministerand rosary facilitator with the Alzheimer’s patients at Robert Yeager Health Center, Rockland County, NY, as well as a Hospice volunteer. Rose was active in book clubs and study groups; she was an avid andeclectic reader, motivating generations to read critically and joyfully. She was a prolific knitter, loved gardening, and treasured opera. Rose was an inspiration to many, a strong woman of integrity and fortitude.

Current limitations restrict a traditional viewing ceremony, church funeral, or burial site service. Rose will be interned next to her husband, at the Cemetery of the HolyRood, Westbury, NY, on April 21, 2020. Her valued charitable organizations include Maryhaven Center for Hope (51 Terryville Rd, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776), and the Sisters of St Dominic (555 Albany Ave, Amityville, NY 11701).
