Roger Ambrosino quietly passed away in his sleep at the age of 76 while suffering from lung cancer and pneumonia. He was the dutiful son of Jean and Tony Ambrosino, brother of Al Ambrosino and brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle to Corinne, Luke and Allen Ambrosino.
He loved the game of golf with a passion, keeping a 7 or 9 iron next to his chair in the living room so he could take practice swings whenever the mood struck. For him, playing 18 holes was a respite from the world and it was one he enjoyed often. The golf course was his sanctuary.
Roger was also a Christian who had the Lord Jesus Christ as his foundation, which kept him in good stead through the most challenging of times. Even when he received the news of his illness, Roger acknowledged every life had an “expiration date” and that his life was a full one. He had an inner contentment most people only wish to have.
Another thing about Roger that made him stand out from the rest was his dependability. If you needed someone to be there for you, whether it was to be your “date” to a wedding, as he often did for Corinne, or to pick you up at the airport, he was always willing no matter what his personal schedule looked like. And for his great nephew, Luke, all you had to do was look around his apartment at all the pictures to see that he had a special place in Roger’s heart.
Christmas, Thanksgiving and countless other days will never be the same for those who were lucky enough to be with Roger, year after year. The world is an emptier, less interesting, place with his passing and we will all miss him terribly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship at 11:30am.
