Robert Philip Cardelli

Robert Philip Cardelli, of West Nyack, NY, 65, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2020. Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 28,1954, the son of Donald C. Cardelli and Marie (Visconto) Cardelli. Robert was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, where he made and maintained lifelong friendships, and later studied film at Temple University. He married his soulmate, Mary (Baird) in 1987, who together shared 32 years of joy. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth, both of whom he treasured more than anything.

Robert had a long and well-respected professional life in New York’s audio and video industry. A three-time Emmy Award winner, Robert retired from ABC in 2010. Most recently, he shared his vast knowledge and taught audio production as an adjunct professor at Rockland Community College.

Robert, known to his friends and family as Bobby, was a person who turned strangers into friends with his outgoing and warm personality. More than anything, Bobby said he knew that he had “so many riches, none of which have anything to do with money and everything to do with love and humor and the people in my life that I love.”

In addition to his wife and daughter, Robert will be deeply missed by his siblings, who hold countless happy memories in their hearts. He is survived by his brothers, Donald Cardelli and James Cardelli; his sister, Maryellen (Cardelli) Christaldi; and his brother-in-law, John Christaldi, whom he loved like a brother. He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Marie; his beloved brother John (Jack) Cardelli; and sister-in-law, Nora (Jane) Cardelli. He is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, all of whom admired him greatly for his companionship, humor and wisdom, and his cherished father-in-law, William Baird.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY from 6 PM - 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at Saint Francis of Assisi in West Nyack, NY at 10 AM.
