Mary K. Furey

Mary was married on August 26, 1950 at St. Francis de Sales, New York City to the love of her life, Charles Furey, who predeceased her in 2012. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known to always have a smile on her face and for her distinct laughter. Mary worked as a secretary for Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home before retiring in 2020 after 46 years.

She is survived by her children Ann Lent (Dave), Deborah Peddy (Charly), William Furey (Carol), Catherine McMahon (Brian), Kevin Furey and James Furey (Maureen). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Maureen DeNardo, Kristine Suarez, Jennifer Lent, Timothy, Matthew, and Kimo Peddy, Kerry Stancarone, Patrick Furey, Theresa McMahon, Kevin Furey and Thomas and Christopher Furey; 8 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Justin DeNardo, Brandon and Kylin Suarez, TJ and Briella Stancarone, and Reagan and Ryder Furey. She is also survived by her brother, John Kilkenny and sister-in-law, Louise Kilkenny.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Augustine’s Church in New City. Burial will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet. Visitation will be at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 Main Street in New City on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3:00-8:00 pm.
