Irene Teresa was born to August and Helen Visich on March 18, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Erasmus high school and went on to become a corporate secretary for Ebasco. Irene later met and married her husband Edmund R. Lotito (Bob) who predeceased her. They relocated to Rockland County, NY in 1967 where they continued to raise their family.
Irene was a loving mother of four who cared deeply for her family. She managed to maintain an organized home while working to contribute support. Irene began as a cocktail waitress at Dellwood Country Club before becoming the first female Records Clerk for the Clarkstown Police Department. During her tenure there, Irene was promoted to the position of secretary to two consecutive Police Chiefs as well as the Police Commissioner, and retired from the department as Records Sargeant after 25 years of service.
Irene was an avid bowler while in NY. She relocated to Margate, Florida in 1993 where she spent the remaining years of her life. There she became a champion at Bocce and Pétanque, and also enjoyed Bingo, dining out and dancing.
Irene is survived by her children Karen Cassa (Jim, deceased), Janis Farnham (George), Linda Lehrbach (Ray) and Bob Lotito. She was the proud grandmother of James Glover (Lauren), Greg Cassa (Kimberley), Charisse Lombardo (deceased), Courtney Farnham, Robert Farnham, and Anthony Lotito; and the great grandmother of Natalie and Fiona Glover.
A funeral mass is scheduled at the Church of St. Anthony’s, 36 West Nyack Rd. Nanuet, NY on Wednesday, October 16 at 11:30 am followed by burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
