away at home peacefully surrounded by her family, on December 5, 2023. She is survived by her children, Nora Mulcahy and her husband Tom, Geoffrey Collins, and Helen Collins. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anne Marie, Kathleen, Geraldine, and Tommy and his wife Krissy. She was adored and loved by her seven great-grandchildren - Liam, Maya, Ellie, Thomas (TJ), Claire, Danny, and Aiden. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Timothy in 1972.
She was born in Legga, County Longford to Frank and Teresa (Corr) Taaffe the eldest of seven children. She is survived by her sister Teresa Reilly and her brother-in-law Bennie in County Longford, and her brother Frank Taaffe and her sister-in-law Carmel in County Meath. She was predeceased by her siblings Bridie Brosnan, Chris O’Connor, John Taaffe, and Jim Taaffe. She is survived by many nieces and nephews both here and in Ireland.
Anne Marie was devoted to her family, and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Everyone knew her as Granny, and she was famous for her pancakes. Her home was always a welcoming one, and she had many relatives and friends stay with her over the years. She was a parishioner at St. Adalbert’s in Elmhurst for over 56 years, and a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Society. She became a parishioner at St. Paul’s in Congers when she moved to Valley Cottage in 2017.
A wake will be held on Thursday, December 7th from 3 PM to 8 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 8th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church at 82 Lake Road, Congers, New York followed by a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on youtube via spasaparish.org
