Zofia Gmyrek, 87, of Newington, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022. Born in Raduchow, Poland to the late Jozef and Lucja (Zielezinska) Pohl, Zofia grew up and married in Poland where she raised her family and moved to the Unit-ed States in 1987.
In addition to her parents and husband, Zofia is predeceased by her sisters Halina Garncarek, Marianna Gajos, and brother Andrzej Pohl.
Zofia will be dearly missed and is survived by: her daughters Boguslawa Kubiak and her husband Krzysztof, of Newington, Barbara Wierucka and her husband Ryszard of Poland; sisters Kazimiera Grzelak, Krystyna Domachowska, and broth-er Jozef and his wife Maria Pohl, and sister-in-law Krystyna Pohl, all of Poland; grandchildren: Pawel Wierucki and his wife, Katarzyna, Katarzyna Zurawska and her husband Piotr, Adam Wierucki, all of Poland, Bartosz Kubiak and his wife Erica of Meriden; great-grandchildren: Gabriela and Piotr Wierucki, Filip and Martyna Zurawski; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Broad Street, New Britain on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 9:30am, with interment services to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt Street, New Britain. Friends and family are invited to call upon Zofia’s family at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm, as well as Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:00am.
