Robert (Bob) Joseph Fillion 88, widower of Patricia Helen Fillion since 1991 of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully on August 15th at New Britain General / The Hospital of Central Connecticut after struggling with heart complications, with his two daughters and son-in-law by his side.
Robert was born on April 24th 1933 in New Britain CT to the late Odilon (Eddie) Fillion and Bertha Marie (Dumont) Fillion.
He graduated and attended the Paire College of Art in Hamden CT. Robert was a commercial artist in advertising and was a co-owner of the former Grey Advertising in Plainville CT. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.
He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of both St. Mary’s and St. Ann’s churches. He married the love of his life Patricia Helen Smith and they made their lifelong home in New Britain CT. Robert was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with his family. After his wife’s passing, he was a single father, and raised their two daughters on his own. He was a kind hearted and charitable man. He had a loving and gentle nature with a great and goofy sense of humor. He was an extremely talented and gifted artist whose favorite medium was water color. He enjoyed going out to eat with family, dancing, singing, or whistling a made up tune. Robert will be most remembered for his kindness, humility and tenacious spirit.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Michelle Bourgoin and her husband Douglas Bourgoin of Bristol, CT, Renee Mislivets and her husband, Thomas Mislivets of Berlin, CT, his brother Ronald Fillion and his wife, Barbara Fillion of New Britain, CT, Grandson Alex Mislivets and Step Granddaughter Summer Bourgoin and many special nieces and nephews. Robert was also predeceased by his wife Patricia, his sister Jeannine Otulak, his brothers David, Raymond and Richard Fillion.
Robert's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Autumn Lake Nursing Home and the New Britain General / Hospital of Central Connecticut critical care staff for their wonderful, empathic care and support during his illness.
Visitation hours will be on August 20th 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral home.
Funeral services will begin on August 21st, 2021 at 9 am from the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 am St Ann’s Church. Burial will follow in - St Mary’s Cemetery.
