Minnie (Silverio) Rosiek, 97, a lifetime resident of New Britain, died peacefully on September 25th. She was one of ten children of Antonio and Maria (Diemente) Silverio. Minnie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, and by all of her siblings. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Ann Church. She worked in medical records at New Britain General Hospital, where she also provided interpretation between English and Italian. When she was 16, Minnie discovered jazz and music would become a passion all her life, especially the old standards of Frank Sinatra. She enjoyed travel and was deeply proud of her Italian heritage. In addition to her frequent forays into New York City to see Sinatra in concert, one of Minnie's most memorable trips was a visit to the small village in Italy in which her father was born. An avid reader, Minnie also enjoyed social gatherings with friends and relatives. Minnie’s beauty, zest for life, and generous heart will long remain with those who love her. For several years Minnie lived with her beloved sister, Anna Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Ruetenik; her grandson, Jesse Schneider; her granddaughter, Heidi Ruetenik; and several nieces and nephews. Minnie's final years were brightened by the devoted care of her grandniece, Danielle Phillips, and Danielle's two children, Grayson and Gabriella. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
