Joseph Prestash 92, of New Britain, passed away on February 14, 2019. He was born in New Britain a son of the late Stephen and Catherine (Bonchak) Prestash. He was an educator in New Britain and retired as the Vice Principal of Smith School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and an avid golfer at the Stanley Golf Course. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie (Skip) Skrypek Prestash and his son Jay Prestash. He was also predeceased by his brothers Pvt. Andrew (WWII), Myron, Walter, Anthony, Steve and sister Mollie Mancini. He is survived by his brother Emrick Prestash and sister in law Sophie Prestash, whose good cooking and baking he enjoyed, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special appreciation for his good neighbors and friends Bruce & Carolyn and Maureen.
A committal service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00AM in the Chapel at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Burritt St. with Fr. Casey of St. Francis of Assisi officiating. New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue is in care of the arrangements.
