

It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of John G. Kumitis, affectionately known as "JK," on March 23, 2025. Surrounded by the love of his cherished family, John departed peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy of kindness, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
John’s life was a testament to love, courage, and an unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his passions. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, John’s bravery and commitment earned him the prestigious Bronze Star and Silver Medal, reflecting his strength, resilience, and steadfast devotion to his comrades and his nation.
Beyond his esteemed military service, John found profound joy in the company of his loved ones. He treasured every moment with his children and grandchildren, sharing his wisdom, humor, and unconditional support. As an avid golfer and enthusiastic sports fan, John’s love for the game and his favorite teams brought him endless happiness. Whether perfecting his swing on the green or cheering from the sidelines, John embraced each moment with boundless enthusiasm.
John will always be remembered as a man of remarkable generosity, deep wisdom, and an infectious zest for life. His warm smile and uplifting spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Bryant (and husband Hank Bajak), Carol Robinson (and husband James), and Gail Cimadon (and husband Mike); his sons, John R. Kumitis and David Kumitis (and wife Jessica); as well as six stepchildren, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his enduring values of love, courage, and commitment. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Elisabeth Goryl-Phillips for her care and compassion toward John over the past 13 years.
A celebration of John’s extraordinary life will be held on March 27, 2025, at 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino funeral home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater Rd New Britain at 10:30AM. Interment service will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery 120 Smalley St. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of John’s military service and giving spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org).
May John’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may his remarkable life continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
