Jean Palys Sharka, a beloved member of the New Britain community, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, leaving behind a profound legacy. Born on September 11, 1925, in New Britain, Connecticut, Jean was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Palys. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward W Sharka, whom she was happily married to for an incredible 69 years.
Jean's life was marked by her incredible talents and passions. She was a true artist, whose work earned her numerous accolades and awards. Her creative spirit and dedication were evident in each piece she created. When not immersed in her art, Jean found solace in books, as she was an avid reader. She had an unwavering love for animals and the outdoors, always finding joy in the harmony of nature.
Throughout her life, Jean was an active volunteer, dedicating her time and energy to several organizations. She generously offered her assistance to the New Britain Senior Center and R.S.V.P for many years, leaving a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. She was also a cherished member of various art clubs, including the Plainville Art Club, the New Britain Art Club, the Meriden Art Club, and the New Britain Art Museum.
Jean shared a special bond with her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by Dorothy Palys, Diane and Arnold Pfeil, Sharon Hinton and Peter Thompson, Colleen Hinton, Jacqueline and Andrew Salamon, Robert Palys, Deborah Palys, Thomas and Gina Palys, and Joseph and Suzanne Palys.
She was preceded in death by her loving siblings, Helen Davidczk, Lucy Hinton, Chester Palys, and Joseph Palys.
