He was the son of Juliette (Picard) Cyr and the late Edwin Cyr.
Jimmy was born in Edmunston, Canada and lived in New Britain for most of his life.
He was a graduate of New Britain High School, Tunxis community College with a Criminal Justine degree. He proudly served in the Marine Corps 2nd force recon from 1976 to 1984.and retired in 2011 after 28 years of service with The Department of Corrections. He was a member of C.E.R.T. team for the Department of Correction, National Major & Gang Task Force and was very proud of his career as a corrections officer. He also volunteered at the Southington Fire Dept. and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Jimmy was light hearted man with a gentle nature and a great sense of humor, he enjoyed scuba diving; Nascar racing and he mostly, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be most remembering for his dedication to his fellow correction officers, his job and his family.
He is survived by his mother, Juliette Cyr and his brother, Kenneth J. Cyr and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:00am at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM at St Francis of Assisi Church.
Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
Calling hours will be on Monday, October 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home .Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, funeral home is 1 1/12 miles on your right.
