Grace (Galiano) Lapila passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023. Approaching 92 years old, she led a wonderful life with family and friends. She was born in New Britain, where she resided most of her life. She then moved to Plainville for several of years and lived in Berlin for the past 14 years. She spent many Summers in Old Lyme at “The Beach House”. She attended New Britain Schools and graduated from St Mary’s HS. She worked at Landers Frary & Clark and later became a seamstress which was her talent and passion, after retiring she continued to sew for friends, family, and neighbors until she was 90.
She was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Teresa Galiano, her brother Louis and sister Louise, her husband of 41 years Jimmy Lapila and her son Jim Lapila of Plainville.
She leaves behind her son Larry and daughter-in-law Heidi Lapila of Boynton Beach, FL, a daughter-in-law Patty (Lapila) Labbe of Plainville, as well as her loving grandchildren Anthony and his wife Cristina Lapila of Berlin, and Gina and her husband Michael Gervais of Boynton Beach, FL, James and Matthew Lapila of Plainville, and her great grandchildren, Nicholas Lapila and Sofia Gervais, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday September 9, 2023 from 9AM -10:30AM, with a Prayer Service starting at 10:30 at the Funeral Home. Interment Services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery 1141 Stanley St. New Britain, CT at 11:15AM
