Gerard was born in Biddeford, ME., a son to the late Willie J. and Alice M. (Vachon) Tardif. He and his wife were longtime residents of New Britain.
Gerard always greeted you with a smile and a quick joke. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love for family. He was the oldest of his siblings, and above all was a proud uncle and brother. Together with his wife, they enjoyed vacationing in Maine and trips to the shore. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Small Tools Division for 25 years, later retiring from Fenn Manufacturing.
In addition to his loving wife, Gerard is survived by his sister Jeannette Stewart of FL., brothers Edward Tardif of Plainville, Donald Tardif of Southington and Paul Tardif of Norwich, sisters Jackie Stathas of Rocky Hill, and Patricia King of GA. Gerard will also be greatly missed by his special nephew Cody Sargeant, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his sister Doris Tardif.
Family and friends are invited for a period of visitation on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 4-7pm at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral services will begin Friday, August 31, at 9:00am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerard's memory to the New Britain Food Bank, 460 Osgood Ave., New Britain, CT. 06053.
