Geraldine Ann Anderson, age 95, passed away peacefully at the Jerome Home on May 13, 2019. Geraldine was born on May 4, 1924 and her parents were the late Amelia and Ernest Sorel of New Britain,CT. She attended New Britain Schools and then later proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. She was married to Clarence B. Anderson for many years until his death in 1984.
In addition to raising their five children, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Memorial Hospital of New Britain and Brittany Farms Health Center in Farmington before retiring.
Geraldine enjoyed bowling with her husband on several leagues, reading, gardening and spending time at the beach. She especially loved spending time with her family in CT and Cape Cod.
Geraldine is survived by 3 of her 5 children. Her son Walter predeceased her in 2011. Her daughter Barbara predeceased her May 5th, 2019.
Her surviving children are Robert Anderson and his wife Dorothy of Fl, Patricia Skelskey of CT, Debra-Lyn Kavanagh and her husband Glenn of MA.
She leaves 9 grandchildren: Laura Curran, Michael Bianco, Darlene Shea, John Bianco, Kyle Anderson, Christopher Skelskey, Jennifer St. Germain, Nikia Monahan and Evan Bianco.
Geraldine also leaves 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. All who were loved by their Nana.
We would very much like to thank Barbara Anderson, Leslee Anderson, Robert Bianco, Michael Bianco and Robert Skelskey for being such a special part of her life.
Geraldine's family would also like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Jerome Home for their wonderful, loving care and kindness during her stay.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 from 9:00-10:30am at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.
