Bill passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord on May 22, 2015 with his beautiful great-granddaughter Melissa by his side. He was born on Oct 4th 1919 in Salem, New Jersey to proud parents Edward Councellor Wilson and Mary Ellen (Vanderslice) Wilson.
He graduated from Salem Memorial High School with the distinct honor of being named "best dancer” which followed him throughout his life. After graduation he attended Pierce School of Business and began working at Anchor Hocking glass factory. While working there he met his future wife and "dance partner" Hulda Virginia Bryant. They were married on September 24th 1939 at St John's Episcopal Church in Salem, New Jersey and began their dance marathon through life. During WWII he dutifully served in the US Navy as a radar technician. After his return from duty he began his career at the Delaware River Port Authority where he retired as Chief of Police in 1979 with 37 years of service. Bill and Hulda moved to New Braunfels in 1982 to be near family and became quite active in the dance scene. They belonged to many dance clubs where they met a lot of wonderful friends. Traveling, dancing and family were their main focus. He was a lifetime member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Fraternal Order of Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Noon Lions of NB where he loved helping at Wurstfest. He was also a 20 year member of First Protestant Church New Braunfels. He was particularly proud of being a 5 generation family and looked forward to celebrating 75 years of marriage with his favorite dance partner. They celebrated this great accomplishment on Sept 24th 2014 in the presence of friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Josephine Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 yrs. A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookdale Assisted Living: 2457 Loop 337 on June 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Daryl Higgins officiating.
