Virginia Helen Vetter, age 85 of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on December 19, 2024, after suffering from dementia. She was born on July 21, 1939, to Reno Wohlfahrt and Hilda Pfannstiel Wohlfahrt.
Virginia is predeceased by her parents, Reno and Hilda Wohlfahrt, and daughter, Donna Lynn Vetter, and brother Kermit E. Wohlfahrt. She is survived by her husband, Jerome H. Vetter, a daughter Deborah Vetter, brother-in-law Kermit Vetter, and Ralph Vetter (Cindy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was born on her parent's farm in Marion, Texas. She attended Marion ISD, and enjoyed playing basketball in high school graduating in 1957. She met the love of her life, Jerome Vetter, at a dance in 1956. They married in 1958. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. Early in their marriage, she liked working nearby at the Weidner Turkey Farm during the Thanksgiving season. Virginia enjoyed taking care of her family and being a good homemaker. Each year she looked forward to canning their garden's bounty of lovely vegetables and fruits. She loved to sew clothing for the entire family, too. She was employed a short time at Mission Valley Mills here in New Braunfels from 1967-1969 to help out after they built a home. Virginia loved farm life and helped when needed by driving the tractor, hauling hay, and rolling crops that were planted. She was a lifetime, dedicated member of Hermans Sons serving 35 years as secretary here at the New Braunfels Lodge, with 5 of those years also being an agent. From 1987 to 2012 , she enjoyed volunteering one day a week at Eden Home. During that time, she utilized her church stewardship by preparing and distributing communion to the elderly there. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church since 1958 where she and Jerome faithfully together prepared the communion trays for over 20 years.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:30 PM at St Paul Lutheran Church, 777 W San Antonio St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. Burial will immediately follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 TX Hwy 46, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
Memorials may be given to Hope Hospice, St Paul Lutheran Church, or to a charity of one's choice.
