On Sunday, November 12, 2023, our beloved Tim entered into Eternal rest with our Lord Jesus Christ. Tim was born on August 8, 1948, to Reynard and Margaret Fox in Cleveland, Ohio. While he wasn’t born in Texas, he got there as fast as he could. After his father passed away, his mother remarried to Tim’s stepfather, Charles Rubinstein.
In 1968, Tim had a summer job at the Pearl Brewing Pavilion at Hemisfair, where he met Patty, who was also heading to the University of Texas at Austin that Fall. Tim graduated in 1972 with his BBA and married Patty that same year. While at UT, he enlisted in the Air Force and trained as a navigator, eventually serving many years later in the Texas National Guard. Tim also received an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio before working in the finance departments of the Alamo Heights and Seguin Independent School Districts. Seguin would become Tim and Patty’s home for many decades, as Tim opened his own accounting firm and served the community as the Seguin ISD school board president, Kiwanis Club president, and as a board member of the Guadalupe County Appraisal District. Tim and Patty were also long-time members of Faith Lutheran Church in Seguin where Tim was baptized in 1985. Tim and Patty would later move to New Braunfels, where they were active at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Tim enjoyed his time on the church finance committee and made many friends in the Partners in Faith Sunday school class, many of whom consistently prayed and communicated with Tim during his cancer journey.
Tim was a proud Texas Ex and enjoyed attending Longhorn baseball and football games with his family. He enjoyed traveling to Omaha to watch his Horns in the College World Series. Tim loved fishing and spent countless hours on the water with many friends, especially the late Henry Ewald. He traveled to Alaska, Canada, the Texas Gulf Coast, and even the Amazon River to savor in his cherished pastime. Tim and Patty also loved exploring the world in recent years as Tim entered “semi-retirement,” and were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary last year.
Tim cherished his two daughters, Alison and Courtney. Alison attended the University of Texas and Courtney attended Southern Methodist University. While they were in college, he loved traveling to Austin and Dallas for visits and sporting events. Most of all, he adored his eight grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pampa.”
Tim is survived by Patty, Alison, and Courtney, and sons-in-law, Grady Dahlberg and Evan Shaver. He also leaves behind his eight precious grandchildren: Demí, Scarlett, Fiona Jo (“FJ”), Killian and Viggo Dahlberg, and Campbell, Caroline and Victoria Shaver.
He is also survived by his sister, Katie Gardenia, brother, Keith Fox, brother-in-law, Bill Spruce, and sister-in-law, Beverly Pace. His nephew, nieces and their spouses include Page and Tim Martin, Olivia Fox Marino, Arielle Fox, Leigh Spruce, Lynn Spruce and Kim Radefeld, Jeff Pace, and Brian and Laura Wight.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Reynard Fox, Charles Rubinstein, and Margaret Fox-Rubinstein, as well as his parents-in-law, Otto and Helen Tabbert, sister-in-law Judy Spruce, and brother-in-law, Don Pace.
Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels on Monday, November 20th at 11am.
His family would like to give thanks to Texas Oncology for their dedication and care, and to all of their friends who have provided their love, support, cards and meals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
