Peter, or known by family as Petey, and to his dad and Uncles as “Jethro” and Big Boy to his Grandpa Garza, was born on September 3, 1985 in Round Rock, Texas to Peter & Sally Garza. In 1987 in Missouri City, Peter became a big brother to Alyssa and in 1991, to his baby sister, Amber both of whom he looked after and quickly took the role of their protector. When it came to family, Petey was always there to count on especially for his Dad and his Grandfather, Pedro Enrique Garza. As their namesakes, Petey felt he had big shoes to fill and literally – he filled some big shoes. Standing 6’4” he grew to become and known as a gentle giant but with the most tender heart when it came to family & many close friends many of who remember his big contagious smile.
After graduating from Elkins High School in 2004, Petey joined his Dad with the family disposal business in Houston, TX. Thereafter he was asked by his Grandfather to move to Marion and help with Apache Disposal along with his two youngest uncles, Rudy & Mando which he did wholeheartedly. It wasn’t too long afterwards, Petey began planting the seed for his remaining family in Missouri City to also move to Marion which finally occurred in 2014. Once there, Pete’s family joined his Grandparents and Uncles working side-by-side with the operations of the family business. At Apache, it seemed like there was nothing Petey wasn’t capable of doing. Anything from the daily office operations, computers to repairing engines, there wasn’t much he wasn’t capable of doing given his vast knowledge.
At a young age, Petey was operating heavy equipment which also included many John Deere tractors. As such, he soon displayed a new passion for farming spending many hours in the hay fields with his Dad, Grandfather and Uncles. This we believe led him to having his own successful garden of fruit & vegetables as well as raising chickens and ducks. He would show up with a big smile when he brought everyone farm fresh eggs & hot sauce which he made from his own homegrown jalapenos.
His faithful companion, Harley Tucker, was his baby girl, a Chocolate Labrador who traveled with him everywhere and slept at his feet each night. As a kid at heart, Petey spent time flying drones and working on his model electric train set. When time allowed, Petey enjoyed offshore fishing with his Dad and escorting his Mom on a recent Las Vegas flight surprising her with a first class upgrade. Petey was always ready for the occasional trip to a casino which he enjoyed with his family along with purchases of scratch offs.
Peter is preceded in death by his paternal Grandfather, Pete Garza and his maternal Grandparents, Edward and Althea Aldridge.
He is survived by his parents, Pete & Sally Garza, sisters Alyssa Garza (Tristan & Ryker Wilson) and Amber Mauricio (Cody); Paternal Grandmother, Elma Garza, Uncle Victor Garza (Tammy & family), Aunt Cindy Garza (Joe & family), Uncle Armando Garza (Anna & family), Uncle Rudy Garza (Megan & family) Aunt Vickie Looney (Carl & family); Godparents Rene & Holly Garza, Godson Nathyn Garza and many, many Great Uncles & Aunts and cousins who he thought the world of and Harley Tucker.
