Norvin W. Roessing

Norvin is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Roessing and Elmie Schwerdtfeger, his brother Hilbert Roessing, and nephews Scott Roessing and Trever Atzger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margot Roessing of New Braunfels; his son Norvin Roessing Jr, wife Amy, and grandchildren of Asheboro, North Carolina; his son Robert Roessing, wife Debbie also of Asheboro, North Carolina; his sister-in-law Doris Roessing of Seguin and nephew Ross Roessing, wife Kim of Marion; his sister Deloris Atzger, husband Jesse of Seguin and niece Adet Shane, husband Curt of Round Rock; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Norvin was born in New Braunfels, Texas on March 28, 1931. He graduated from Seguin High School and enlisted in the army at the age of 17. He served in the Vietnam War, was stationed at various bases including Panama and Germany where he met the love of his life, Margot, whom he married in 1965. While serving in the military, Norvin became very proficient at scuba diving, swimming, and was even asked to join the American Olympic Team for Platform Diving. After serving 22 years in the military, Norvin and Margot moved to Florida where he worked for Piper Aircraft. Norvin and Margot enjoyed a good life traveling, visiting family and friends, and taking in the beautiful sights around the world. Upon retirement, Norvin and Margot returned to New Braunfels in 1987 where Norvin enjoyed wood working, served at Peace Lutheran Church, spent many active years with the American Legion, and took great pleasure gathering with family and friends.

Norvin adored his cousin’s Linda and Vera Vetter who taught him the song, “In the Garden”, and he often shared his fond memories of singing with them as they picked cotton together in their younger years. Even during his final days, Norvin continued to share his joy and peace with those around him by singing, “And He walks with me, And He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own, And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.” What a beautiful picture of Norvin’s blessed assurance of his eternal home with Jesus. Norvin’s life truly exemplified his love for people as he was determined to not let you leave his presence without putting a smile your face.

Funeral services will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Land St, New Braunfels, TX 78130 on May 11, 2024 at 10:30am with a reception to follow.
