Margaret Carroll Roets, 92, passed away peacefully at Christus Santa Rosa New Braunfels surrounded by her family on October 9, 2015. Margaret was born December 12, 1922 in Baguio, Philippines to Samuel Alonzo Carroll and Auspecia Descallar. She was the youngest of five sisters and is survived by her oldest sister Grace Astorga (California) and sister Bell Espino (Philippines); preceded in death by her sisters Hulda Roquia and Flora Kuykendall. Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward J. Roets. Margaret is also survived by her five children Florence Llora, Maria Pennington, Joseph Llora and wife Vicki, Adriana McDonald and her husband Russell, Yolanda Couch and her husband Jim. She has 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Margaret’s early years were not easy, from surviving World War II and the Japanese invasion of the Philippines as a young girl to moving herself and her children from the Philippines to Guam and then eventually to the mainland (United States) as a young woman. Margaret made her home in Odessa, Texas where she met and married Ed to whom she was married to for 38 years. She worked hard as a Bookkeeper in the Oil Industry and raised us to be the strong, competent adults we are today. Margaret is also survived by Ed’s four children, Patty (Gary) Williams of Reno, Peggy (George) Connor and Jim (Kimberly) Roets of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary (Dan) Lenehan of Los Altos Hills, California.
In their retirement and later years, Margaret and Ed made their home in the Texas Hill Country (New Braunfels). They enjoyed open road traveling in their RV visiting family and friends across the country, taking ocean cruises, and visiting her native Philippines. They had a beautiful and loving relationship.
Funeral arrangements are made by Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa, New Braunfels, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Zoeller Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
