Julio P. Alvarez, our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 20, 2016 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas surrounded by his beloved family. Julio was born in New Braunfels, Texas on Nov. 15, 1942 to the late Francisco and Manuela P. Alvarez of Lamesa, Texas. On August 15, 1961, Julio married Aurelia B. Alvarez in Lamesa, Texas. He then moved permanently to New Braunfels, Texas. Julio lived his life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was baptized on August 8, 1970. Julio had 3 children, Henry Alvarez, Adolfo and wife Esther Alvarez, Mark A. and wife Blanca L. Alvarez, who are survived. Also surviving is Velia Martinez. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. His beloved wife Aurelia precedes him in death. Also preceding him in death is his siblings, Angelica, Pedro, Francisco Jr. and Emilio Alvarez. He is survived by 1 sister Maria Hernandez and 2 brothers, Lupe and Carlos Alvarez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Being a hard working husband, Julio worked most of his life in the construction field. Having a humorous character about him, he never had a dull moment at work. Being well known by the nickname “Shorty”, he will always be remembered for his contagious laughs, smiles, and larger than life personality. Julio was a very generous person, always taking great joy in giving gifts or food to any and all who came by. He was an exemplary model of generosity and his deep love for all his grandchildren was so immense that words cannot describe. He will be greatly missed.
