Hilmar was born in New Braunfels, Texas to Alfred and Thekla (Wenzel) Wehe on August 21,1938. He attended school at Bulverde. He married Barbara Etter on August 20, 1960 in Bulverde, Texas. He worked for KLN Steele Fabrications for 43 years and was a rancher his entire life. Hilmar was a member of Bulverde Bowling Club, Spring Branch Bowling Club, Germania Farmer Verein and St. Joseph Honey Creek Catholic Church.
Hilmar was preceded in death by his parents, Sister-in-Law Judy Wehe, Brother-in-Law Leonard Etter Jr. and wife Geneva, and In-Laws Leonard and Gladys Etter Sr.
Hilmar is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara Wehe, Children Don Wehe and wife Debbie, Roxanne Wunderlich and husband Diron, Lisa Rust and husband Wade, and Scott Wehe and wife Jennifer. Brother Nolan Wehe. Brother and Sister-in-Laws L.J. and Gloria Preiss, Robert and Darlene Acker, Philip and Jane Furhmann, and Kenny and Judy Brooks. Grandchildren James Wehe and wife Erin, Kevin Wehe and wife Bailey, Dustin Wehe, Jason Wehe, Hannah Wunderlich, Jase Rust, Kayla Wunderlich, Jena Rust, Emily Wehe and Waylon Wehe. Great Grandchildren Brooklyn and Bryson Wehe. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, and 9-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Joseph Honey Creek Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
