Henry Hurt Murrell, Jr. passed away on May 23, 2017 at the age of 89. He was born on September 24, 1927 in Purcell, Oklahoma to parents Henry and Naomi Murrell. Henry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lee Aven Murrell; her children, Donna Kaimal, Llewellyn Lampley, James Donald Lampley, Jr, and their many children; his daughter, Frances Elizabeth Murrell Gara and her two sons, Willem Eversley Ferris and David Reed Ferris; and by his siblings, Donald Murrell, William Murrell, and Janey Hopson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Murrell; and sisters Nan Rogers and Perry Jo Inman.
Henry touched everyone he met. He had a distinguished career of 23 years in the Air Force including two bronze stars earned in two Vietnam tours. He received the Airman of the Year award twice. He had the honor of being recruited for Officers Training School, an invitation he declined due to his devotion to his new bride. His career took him all around the world crossing the Pacific five times. He was proud to serve his country.
A Public Visitation will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home.
