Momo taught me so much throughout my life, she always placed others needs before her. Her door was always open and she never met a stranger. I couldn't have asked for a better grandmother and will her miss so much. I love you momo.

I remember you often used to tell me a story about when I was a little kid. I was helping you cook and calling myself little Momo because I wanted to be like you. So I was walking behind you limping and my ma started apologizing and you just laughed because you didn’t realize you put on your leg wrong that day and had been limping. I miss you lots 💖

I remember that Momo always kept her large print Bible right next to her spot on the couch, and also had a magnifying desk lamp on the table next to the couch so that even with her aging eye sight, she could still read God's word.  Whenever we visited, I always saw her reading in it at least once each day.

When we took Momo to see Mount Rushmore, we did everything we could to make sure she enjoyed herself.  She sat in the front passenger seat, and the driver would make sure Momo had good conversation.  When I took a turn driving, I didn't speak loud enough for Momo to be able to tell I was listening and engaged in the conversation.  Our big van was very loud.  So, after my shift driving, I spent the rest of the trip in the back of the van so Momo could tell we were listening to her.  I didn't mind because I wanted Momo to enjoy herself.

We rented a cabin not far from the National Park.  We cooked over a campfire every night, and listened to Momo tell stories.  It's one of my favorite things to do.  We had a great time, and Momo did too.

This is a story Momo told us when we visited.  When she was a young girl, they lived on a farm.  All the menfolk were at work, and the women and kids at home.  The women didn't drive around town when the men were at work, because the men used the cars to get to work and the women were too busy on the farm.  One day, she injured her foot.  It was cut open pretty bad.  It was before the days of widespread use of antibiotics.  Her mother cleaned it off and then soaked it in diesel.  Why?  She just felt like it was the right thing to do.  Momo said she remembers watching her blood bubble up and float on top of the diesel.  They had no phone and no car, so she waited until Daddy got home.  When he got home, her mother explained the situation, then her mother bandaged up Momo's foot and took it to the doctor.  The doctor was a bit stunned by the unusual treatment Momo's foot received, but said it probably did some good.  After taking care of Momo's foot, the foot just wouldn't heal.  Months and months went by.  The foot still hadn't healed all the way.  I believe it was 18 months later, that the doctor decided to try something new.  It was called an antibiotic.  After treatment her foot healed in a few days.  It was a miracle cure.  (Brianne and Madison Hasson)

Momo frequently told us about when Popo asked her to go get a spotted cow with him.  It was when they had just started dating and Popo asked her if she had ever had a spotted cow.  She didn't know what that was, so he took her to a local malt shop and ordered a "spotted cow".  They brought out a big mug with ice cream floating in root beer.  She loved it, and they went for "spotted cow" many times.  Whenever we mentioned root beer floats when we visited, she would tell us the spotted cow story.  (Brianne and Madison Hasson)

This is a story Momo told me of her life as a young woman.  I am telling what I remember, some details may be missing. 
 When she was 17, she lived out in the country and commuted to work in San Antonio.  She said the commute was long, and her stop was the last one on the line.  She had to walk a few miles from her house to get to the bus stop.  One day walking home, she heard some one walking behind her.  She picked up her pace, but after a few minutes a man wrapped his arms around her from behind saying something like, "hey baby!".  I don't remember exactly what she said she did to get away, but she got away from him and ran home.  That same night, she asked her parents if she could move in with her aunt that lived in San Antonio.  She told her parents it was so she didn't have to travel so far to get to work.  They agreed, and she moved to her aunt's the next day.  She told me she had never told anyone this story until when she told it to us (Brianne and Madison Hasson)

She loved music, I think as much because it reminded her of Mark as for any other reason.  She was happy to have me play and sing for her, and whenever I could, I did.  We were always welcomed at her house, and I was never uncomfortable there.  We loved Helen and admired her "go get 'em" spirit: nothing interfered with her pursuit of life.  
Our love goes out to her family, especially to Dan and Brenda because we are closest to them.

Helen Mom as we called her. Was such a special lady in our lives.  She is the sweetest person you will ever met in a life time. Such a strong Texas Lady. What a life Mark her true love had together.  The stories she would tell us. Where amazing.  We will truly miss her and we loved her. Skipbo queen💞
 

Momo loved flowers, and gardens, rocks , her children and her grandchildren. She was kind, very welcoming and never gossiped.
She was an excellent hunter and made the best sausage in Texas.
As squeamish as I was I loved making sausage with her and the family. My boys had the BEST grandmother and I was proud to call her my friend. I gave her a throw with deer on it. She said it made her mouth water because every time she looked at it she saw sausage.  She was one of a kind.  Love, Kathie

Even though we only new her a short time she was a lot of fun and had plenty to add to the conversation. Our thought and our prayers go out to her whole family.
