Gregg Elry Gourley’s spirit left this earth peacefully on October 30, 2018, and went to Heaven to converse with angels. He died after a year and one-half battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love for his wife, soul mate, and best friend of eleven years. He will be remembered as a gentle soul who had empathy for every person and all animals. He loved his brothers, Chris and Brett Gourley, their families, his mom, Cretia Gourley, his late father, Philip Gourley, his wife’s family, Gary and Linda Lang and his many friends.
Gregg was a free spirit, a lover of nature, and a great fisherman. He was really good with plants and had a knack for nurturing them back to health if they were sick. He did not take anything for granted and knew how lucky he was to have such a good life. He was the good – he was always happy inside and gave so much love to his wife, Mary Ann, who will miss him dearly. Gregg worked as a plant breeder for Iowa State University, then as a roofer, and then he got his culinary degree from DMACC and cooked his way from resort to resort between Wyoming and Alaska. He and his wife traveled happily together across the west and got along like two peas in a pod. God Bless Him. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 19, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, Texas. Please join us in celebrating our loved one’s life by visiting our memorial at www.zoellerfuneralhm.com .
