On March 21, 1923 she was the ninth child born to Heinrich and Louise Winkelmann in Cedar Hill, Washington County, TX. She married Alfred Kramer on November 8, 1942 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Prairie Hill, Washington County, TX. They were together for almost sixty-eight years and during that time they lived and worked together to raise their three children. Gladys was a tiny woman with a mighty spirit and a generous and kind nature. She loved to cook, sew, quilt, garden, attend church and family reunions and spend time with her children and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husband. Today they are reunited in paradise. She is survived by her three children: Jerry Kramer, Jimmy Kramer, and Betty Kramer, and her daughters-in-law, Sherry and Karen Kramer. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shannon Bliek, Paxton Brown, Nicole Thrasher, Aaron Brown, and Joshua Kramer, ten great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Edgar Kramer, and sisters-in law, Clarice Kramer, Mildred Richter, Lorene Kramer and Gertie Kramer, and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will begin 5:00 PM Tuesday at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX. and will continue until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels, TX with burial to follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
The family wants to thank Betty Kramer for the love and care she gave her mother during her illness and also Rosemary Rios and Hope Hospice who aided in her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hope Hospice in memory of Gladys Kramer.
