Paulette was born on April 20, 1944 to Mrs. Sybil Mitchell in Kinston, NC. After the untimely death of her mother at age 1, Paulette was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, Emma and Ernest Rouse, where she was brought up as their daughter. She married Mr. Frank Jackson in April 1962, with the two of them settling in Craven County to raise their family.
Paulette was retired from the Craven County School System where she served the youth of the county as a cafeteria manager. She faithfully attended Croatan FWB Church, where she thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and worship. Her favorite past time, other than spending time with her family and friends, was getting her hands in the soil and cultivating her flower beds and potted plants.
In addition to her parents, Paulette was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Johnston, her brother Billy Mitchell, niece Sonia Johnston and her sister-cousin Barbara Bowen.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years Frank, her loving children, David (Margaret) Jackson of Grifton, NC, daughter Cheryl Jackson of New Bern, caring grandson Randall Jackson and his mother, Margaret Mercer, both of Morehead City. She is also survived by her sister Ernestine (Wayne) Brock of McKinney, TX and sister-cousin Sylvia (Carroll) Byrd of Kinston. Survivors also include niece Robbie York of Bayboro, nephews Reggie Johnston of Bayboro and Richie (Julie) Brock of McKinney, TX as well as other nieces and nephews and her granddog Riley.
A visitation for Paulette will be held Sunday 9/26/2021 from 5-7pm at Cotton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday 9/27/2021 at Croatan FWB Church at 11am with the Rev. Harry Bryan officiating. Burial to follow later that afternoon at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Paulette by making a donation to the charity of your choice or by making a contribution to Croatan FWB Church.
