Listed as a noteworthy auditor by Marquis Who's Who, Patsy received her Certification in Accounting from UNC Greensboro, Postgraduate from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Auditing from the University of Wisconsin. Her extensive career in finance included Regional instructor for First Citizens Bank in New Bern (1976-1978), Branch manager of First Citizens Bank and Trust Company (1974-1976), Supervisor Accounting Services and Operations (1963-1974), Vice President and Regional Audit Supervisor (1978-1997), VP Auditor Southern Bank and Trust Company, Mount Olive (1997-1999), and Consultant Millennia Community Bank, Greenville, NC (2000-2004).
Patsy was an Elder at Broad Street Christian Church and was a member of the National Association Bank Women (secretary Eastern North Carolina group secretary 1975-1976, Chairman 1978-1980), Institute Internal Auditors, New Bern Business and Professional Women's Club (treasurer 1973-1974, 3d vice president 1974-1975, treasurer 1981-1982), North Carolina Business and Professional Women's Association (trustee 1976-1982), New Bern Golden Age Club (vice president), and the National Association Business and Professional Women's Club.
Patsy is survived by her daughters Kathryn Sublett (Jim) and Patricia Bryant (Larry), granddaughters, Caroline Tippette, Veronica Sublett Breeden (Shane) and Ellen Cruze (Jake), great grandson, Callen Sublett, brother, James William Duncan, sister, Louise Duncan Mitchum, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence Coleman Duncan Jr. and Ernest Clyde Duncan and beloved granddaughter, Maeve Breeden.
Her visitation will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, May 31, 2024 at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:00 pm.
