Neil C. Autry, Jr., 95, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, July 11th, 2021. He was retired from civil service at Cherry Point where he worked for 38 years. His love and joy in life was reading and teaching the Word of God and sharing the Gospel with others. He faithfully taught Sunday School for sixty years and is remembered by many as the best Sunday School teacher they ever had. His children and grandchildren benefited greatly through the years from his wisdom and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nelia Grace.
He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Myrtle Tripp Autry of the home; son, Larry D. Autry and his wife Linda C. Autry; daughter, Lorraine Whealton and her husband Warren Whealton; grandchildren, Pamela Autry Vivona, Garland Smith and his wife Pam, Tammy Smith, Rev. Dr. Ashley Neil Smith and his wife Vickie, Dwayne Lyttle and wife Pamela, Lisa Peterson and her husband Wally, and Michael Warrick and wife Kimberly; eighteen great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14th at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Case officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service. He will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
