Melody was raised in Spokane, WA, served in the U.S. Army, and worked for some time at the U.S. Pentagon and the F.B.I. She retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons to New Bern, NC where she studied many forms of art. Melody was a basket weaver, a painter, a quilter, a knitter, stained-glass maker and an avid fan of crosswords and the Sunday comics. She was also a Master Gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Paul Emerson Spotts.
She is survived by her four loving daughters, Norreida, Veronica (Peter), Catherine and Lynne (Jason) and her six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her brother, L. Curtis Mhyre and a large extended family in her home state of Washington.
Intellectually curious about the world, she was enamored of the space program and she passionately supported animal causes. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to her favorite charity, PETA, at https://us-p2p.netdonor.net/23/true-friends-memorials/8783/melody-spotts-human-memorial.
