Mark Justin Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Mark “Justin” Smith announces his passing on Thursday, May 30th, at the young age of 37. He was a much-loved son, partner, father, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin, and friend to many.

Justin will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Donald and Susan Smith and Cheryl Smith Lockridge, (John); his significant other, Kristi Overman; his children, Parker Smith, Austin Smith, and Aubri Overman; his siblings, Harold Dean Smith, Jr. (Billie Sue), Jeremiah Smith (Emily), Amber Tarlton (Derrick), Grace Nelson (Dean), Nick Smith (Bayge); nine nieces and nephews (Jimmy, London, Grayson, Oliver, Wren, Memphis, Adelyn, Azariah, and Nolan), and his many other loving family and friends.

Justin was preceded in death by his paternal Grandmother and Grandfather, Mark and Hilda Grace Smith, and his paternal uncles, Lester Smith and Jimmy Smith.

Justin was ALWAYS smiling and was one of the most charismatic people you could ever meet. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working outside, taking care of his animals, and he had an entrepreneurial spirit. Justin was the best Daddy, and he loved his children more than anything. Anyone who was close to him would tell you he was much loved but could be a handful at times. To know him was to love him.

The family will receive friends at 11am on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC. The funeral will follow immediately after the visitation at 12pm. Justin will be buried at Trenton Municipal Cemetery beside his grandparents. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to his children, 5351 Lake Wilson Rd., Elm City, NC 27822 which will be put into a trust.
