Linda Matthews Baxter

TRENT WOODS | Linda Matthews Baxter, 69, of Trent Woods, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, August 28, 2016. The daughter of the late Louie and Robena Matthews, Linda was a lifelong resident of the New Bern area where she met and married her husband, John. She was a loving, kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, researching family geneaology and reading. In recent years, Linda kept herself young by helping her grandchildren with schoolwork and attending their sporting events. Throughout her life, she also enjoyed spending weekends fishing with her family. Above all, Linda was known for helping others.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John R. Baxter; son, Jim Baxter and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kathy B. Roberts and husband, Dan; and two grandsons, Merritt and Matthew Roberts.
