Kenneth Aaron Wiggins

Kenneth Aaron Wiggins, 77, passed away on Monday, October 4th, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Heber and Minnie Wiggins; sister, Letha Wiggins, and brother-in-law, Bill Waters.

He is survived by two children, his daughter, Kellie Kiser and husband Tom of Vanceboro and son David Wiggins of Cove City; his grandchildren, Stephen Hawkins of Cove City, Leslie Hawkins and fiancé Colbey Dixon of New Bern, Katelyn Wiggins of Bridgeton, Justin Kiser and fiancé Kerry Doyle of Holly Ridge, Emily Whitehead and husband Jake of Alexandria, Va., and Jackson Kiser of Jacksonville; his two sisters, Retha Waters of New Bern, and Judith Phelps and husband Maurice of New Bern; his nephews, Michael Waters and wife Carla of Peachtree City, Ga., Daryle Phelps and wife Tonya of Newport, Keith Phelps of Washington, D.C., and his niece, Deborah Dawson and husband Alan of Knightdale.

Kenny was in the graduating class of 1963 of Farm Life High School in Vanceboro, NC. For those who knew Kenny, he had a passion for the earth and its wonders. In his professional life, Kenny showed his love of nature in owning a specialty lumber mill, Wiggins Lumber Company, as well as a commercial fishing operation. His best times were often spent with family and friends on the water near Harkers Island and at his mill in Dudley. Kenny always lived life to the fullest and loved to travel, play cards, and fish. His favorite thing to do, however, was to share a meal with a friend. Whether at Ken’s Grill or at an upscale steakhouse, Kenny enjoyed moments where he could share what God had done for him. As God blessed Kenny, he shared those blessings with others through his time, talents and treasures. He was an innovative entrepreneur; an amazing father, brother, and grandfather; and most especially, an amazing friend. His passion for life will be remembered by all those who knew him as he has left a permanent mark on many hearts of God’s never-ending mercy and grace.

His family would like to thank the Cancer Center Staff at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, Community Home and Hospice and the many doctors and nurses who attended to him in recent months. We are so grateful for the amazing care and love shown to Kenny and our family.

Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at Cotten Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Rose and his brother-in-law, the Rev. Maurice Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
