Jerry Walker was an adventurer, entrepreneur, creative designer, musician, photographer, proud father, loving husband, and true friend. He left this world unexpectedly on January 23, 2022, absent from his body and now present with his Lord.
Jerry was born in Roswell, New Mexico, and grew up there and in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended New Mexico Military Institute in high school. After a summer trip to Alaska that lasted ten years, Jerry returned to Albuquerque to study Architecture at the University of New Mexico where he met the love of his life, Beth Boxley. Jerry and Beth were married in 1992, moved to New Bern in 1999, and opened the doors of The Walker Group Architecture in February 2000. After a successful career serving local military bases, state entities, and local municipalities, Jerry decided to retire in 2021 to begin new adventures, starting with a trip to Antarctica. From the borealis to the australis, Jerry was a man known to the ends of the earth, belonging in the annals of adventurers to have seen both the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle.
Jerry is survived by and will be missed by his wife Beth, son James, daughter Anna, sister Debra Walker-Lewis, sister Sharon Jaynes (Jim), brother Gary Creighton (Ginger), sister-in-law Becky Boxley, brother-in-law Clivie Boxley (Lisa), and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Union Point Church, located at 2912 Trent Road in New Bern, NC.
