Jerry Dean Rouse

Jerry Dean Rouse, 71, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Jerry was born in Greenville, South Carolina on January 29, 1951 to the late Walter Hubert Rouse and Grace Johnson Rouse.

He loved cars, driving fast, and planning great meals. He was a marine mechanic by trade, but could fix most anything- except plumbing. He preferred to pay someone else to do that and so did his wife. His philosophy was that duct tape and a tube of caulk could fix anything. Jerry enjoyed talking politics, toying with technology, and robust debate. He loved to play poker and pull elaborate pranks.

He spent most mornings socializing and solving the world’s problems with his Bojangles Breakfast Buddies. Jerry was blessed to have a large, loving family and many friends that enriched his life incredibly.

Left to cherish his memory, is his beloved wife of 53 years, Deborah A. Rouse. He is also survived by two daughters, Linda Ipock (Doug), Christy Buszka (Gene), three grandchildren, Bailey Ipock (Riley), Kaci Ipock, and Amber Buszka, and his brother Wayne Rouse (Grace).

In addition to both of his parents, he was preceded in death by five of his brothers: Doug, George, Richard, Harold and Grady Rouse.

We would like to thank the healthcare team at CarolinaEast Medical Center, Jerry’s many friends, and family that have been supportive over the last week.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow in the chapel.
