He was a kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He loved to read, play tennis, sail and spend time with his family. He graduated from NC State University in 1965 and served as an officer in the United States Army in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie; his children, Jay and (Samantha) Williams and Ann Jones; his grandchildren Caroline Williams, Liza Williams, Charlie Jones and Fletcher Jones; two sisters, Alicia Williams and Hope Williams, his brother Burrell and ( Nancy) Williams and his nephew Rob Williams.
We would like to thank those of you who encouraged and inspired him, and helped him through his long illness. He even became an accomplished boxer during that time. Never doubt for a minute how much he appreciated each and every one of you. We thank you so much for all of your many kindnesses to him!
A family gathering will be held in remembrance of “ Doe” at a later date.
He will be dearly missed and always in our hearts.
