Jim was formerly the Executive Director for the Craven County Economic Development Commission and he served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Craven County Committee of 100. He was a member of Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow, Coastal Carolina Regional Airport, Craven/Jones/Pamlico Transportation Committee, Economic Developer’s Advisory Committee, International Economic Development Council, and the Naval Aviation Community Partnership. Additionally, he was awarded the Practitioner of the Year by the Economic Developers Association for 2002-2003 and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by the Governor in 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jane Davis, his sons, Brandon Davis and Kyle Davis, Zachary Edmister (Ashley), Matthew Edmister, and Stephen Edmister (Kylie); daughter Sarah Hart (Daniel); sister, Brenda Day. Grandchildren; Quinn, Katherine, Ella Grace, Mara, Gregory, Sadie, Emily, Kenan, Elijah, and Lydia.
Jim was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed traveling, and collecting baseball cards.
His service will be held at 11:00 am Friday March 31 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
