Jack D. Jennings

NEW BERN - Jack Dickinson Jennings, aged 91, passed away on March 27, 2018 at home with his family. He was born in Lakeland, FL on December 31, 1926 to John and Alice (Hope) Jennings and grew up in the New Bern area during the Great Depression. After graduating from Tarboro High School in 1945, he enlisted in the Navy and served honorably in the Pacific during World War II. Jack enjoyed a long career with General Motors after the war and retired from his position as an agency relations supervisor in 1987. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie Sue (Calhoun) Jennings and is survived by his daughters, Deborah Crews and Pamela Iler of Newport News, VA; his son, Jay Jennings and daughter-in-law, Janelle, of Charlottesville, VA; five grandchildren, Angela Davis, Kelly Marvuglio, Chris Goodwin, Samantha Lauderbach, and Rory Jennings; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Boulevard, New Bern, NC.
